I downloaded "Ruins" and started reading, right then. You know,when you pick up a book written by Matt Rogers, you're in forat least a couple hours. RUINS is called a "short". A novella. I guess that'sFrench for a short novel. You'll finish Ruins in a couple hours. However,it is not short of suspense, fear, Will Slater antics, terror, and even a little help withmeditation. Definitely worth reading while we're waiting for King to hook up withSlater in the next read......NOT a short read. When they're together, they need a tall read, a big read, a regular size book. You know what I mean, Matt.

These Black Force Shorts are always welcome and are well written by Matt Rogers. This one takes place in the desert area of China where Will Slater is sent to to rescue three American college students. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

Regardless what he is called on to do, and regardless of the fact he is majorly hung over when he does a HALO? (might have that wrong) he delivers to the fullest. He is one man you don't want to cross.

Wow, can’t wait for the next one. This one is a good prep for the upcoming King/Skater Series. Excellent short read

I've read all of Matt Rogers' tales of Will Slater, Jason King, and the Black Force. What a great quick story with a twist! Thanks, Matt Roger; AGAIN.

Another action packed Black Ops adventurer for Will Slater. Slater is dropped in-country on a rescue mission and things go bad from the very beginning, but Slater handles every situation in classic Black Ops fashion and makes a very tough decision in the end.I love the short style of book as I can read it in one day and they come more often.This adventurer is a flash back to the days that Black Ops was an official government agency run by Lars Crawford and as such the methods and gadgets are different than when Slater is on his own.

I received an ARC of The Ruins in exchange for an honest review. I've read all of Matt Rogers' tales of Will Slater, Jason King, and the Black Force. This one has a great premise and a twist at the end. Will Slater completes his mission as always but we see more of his moral fiber in this early mission. The Ruins is a quick read with lots of action to keep the reader engaged. I highly recommend this book and all the Black Force, Jason King, Will Slater stories!

Rogers has away with this short to make you think it is a full novel for not much money. It has plot twists, moral dilemmas, and several actions climaxes that make you think, "OK, this must be the end because this is suppose to be a short." Nice to see Lars Crawford back in a story. Also nice to see Will having to struggle with seeing his own life choices of drug use in other people. A little poetic justice. Not that there are ten Blackforce Shorts I would like to see two things: 1) Amazon put the first and second set of five into bundles; and 2) it's time to see James Xu again. The Ruins seems like a full-length novel for the price of a short.
